When I say "perception of health," I want you to think about what comes to your mind when you think about health. Is it being vegan or vegetarian, being the skinniest in the room, or the one who passes on desert because it has "too many carbs"?
Usually the American conventional perception is often tanted by the misception of mass media and the fact that everyone needs to look a certain way to be "healthy". What we don't understand until its too late is the fact that, everyone is an individual. Your health is even slightly different than your ancestors health because you are a combination of DNA and of those whom came before you. So consider that when you think about "health".
I like the definition that defines perception as "a way of regarding, understanding, or interpreting something; a mental impression." It is the way that you see things and understand them to be true. Everyone has a different perception so thinking that health is one size fits all can lead to a disaster. I define being healthy as the balance of all things in the human body, including mental, physical, and spiritual. This is called homeostasis or "steady state", the state that your body is constantly trying to maintain because just like you, your body doesn't to change and likes consistency.
Each of the element of health are interconnected and depend on one another to function properly. Proper functioning is up to you as the connection to the outside world to help the things that are going on inside of you. Be investigative and ask questions. If you are bloated after a meal, start keeping a log of what you eat and see when the bloating goes down or see what is causing it. Sometimes it will take a little bit extra work but I believe it will save you money in the long run at the doctors office and hospitals.
Always consider that you are an individual and what works more me doesn't work for you. Be willing to try anything once and always keep and open mind.
These blogs are meant to just open your mind for consideration for new things. I hope you enjoyed the content and stay tuned for more! Become the best you possible, one step at a time.
